UPDATE: Tony Dow Has NOT Passed Away

UPDATE: According to TMZ, Tony Dow is still alive and in hospice care. His wife was reportedly led to believe he passed away, and Facebook post announcing his death has been removed.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Actor Tony Dow, who was best known for playing Wally on "Leave It To Beaver," has passed away.

According to Yahoo, the sad news was shared on Dow's Facebook page Tuesday morning. The statement said, "It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share with you the passing of our beloved Tony this morning. Tony was a beautiful soul – kind, compassionate, funny and humble."

Dow's former "Leave It To Beaver" co-star, Jerry Mathers, paid tribute in a Facebook post.

Mathers wrote, "He was not only my brother on tv, but in many ways in life as well. Tony leaves an empty place in my heart that won’t be filled.He was always the kindest, most generous, gentle, loving, sincere, and humble man, that it was my honor and privilege to be able to share memories together with for 65 years."

Tony Dow was 77 years-old.
