3 People Rescued After Being Stranded On Desert Island For 33 Days

The Coast Guard has rescued three people who spent the last 33 days stranded on a deserted island.

An aircraft spotted the trio, a woman and two men, waving makeshift flags from an uninhabited island in the Bahamas. The Coast guard dropped down a radio, food, and water on Monday and then rescued the group on Tuesday.

They told officials they were traveling from Cuba when their boat capsized near the coast of the island.

The castaways had survived for more than a month by eating coconuts, rats, and shellfish.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Brandon Murray said he can't ever remember saving someone who had been stranded for more than a month.

I can't express this strongly enough -- I would not last five weeks. These people are amazing.
