Democrats Heading Home

(Austin, TX) --The Texas House Democrats who fled the state to obstruct a vote on a Republican redistricting effort may return in the next few days. The runaway caucus issued a press release on Thursday saying they'll come back after the legislative special session ends today. They also said they're counting on support from California, where Governor Gavin Newsom says his state will redistrict in favor of Democrats so as to offset any new GOP seats in Texas. A spokesman for Governor Greg Abbott says California is already one of the most gerrymandered states in the nation. Abbott says he'll call for a new special session immediately.
