At last report Beaumont police were still searching for 63-year old Melvin Joseph Johnson, a person of
interest in Friday night’s murder of 17-year old Louis Mitchell. Mitchell was shot and killed on the front
porch of a home in the 1000 block of Campus. Police want to talk to Johnson about the murder. If you

The telephone company has told Burby the necessary repairs might not be completed until Monday, meaning 911 service to Wiergate, Shanklesville and the surrounding area might be out until that time.
