An unpublished manuscript by Dr. Seuss, officially known as Theodor Geisel, will be released next summer. The book, titled Sing the 50 United States!, is set to be published by Random House Children’s Books on June 2, 2026, with an initial print run of 500,000 copies. This marks the first full manuscript by Dr. Seuss to be discovered since "What Pet Should I Get?" in 2015.

The manuscript, along with a cover sketch and notes on the art direction, was found earlier this year among archival materials at the Geisel Library at the University of California, San Diego. The book will feature illustrations completed by children's book artist Tom Brannon, who drew in the style of Dr. Seuss. It will include the iconic "Cat in the Hat" and his helpers, the "Little Cats," as they guide young readers through a whimsical journey across all 50 states using Dr. Seuss's signature wordplay.

To celebrate the launch, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books have partnered with First Book to distribute copies of Sing the 50 United States! to students across the United States. Each participating student will receive a backpack containing the new book, school supplies, and other Dr. Seuss classics.

Susan Brandt, president and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, expressed excitement about the discovery, stating, "Uncovering a new work from Ted is like finding a time capsule of his imagination." The release of this book coincides with America's 250th birthday, making it a notable cultural and publishing event.

Judith Haut, executive vice president of Random House Children’s Books, added, "Finding an original Dr. Seuss story is something we dream of." The book promises to be a special storytime experience for young readers and their families, continuing the enduring legacy of Dr. Seuss.
