Maynard James Keenan Urges Fans To Give TOOL Speculation A Rest "For A Day"

Nobody in music commits to sarcasm quite as much as Tool singer Maynard James Keenan, who asked fans Wednesday to please give the incessant speculation about Tool's new album a rest ... for just 24 hours.

Keenan celebrated his 55th birthday on Wednesday.

To mark the occasion, the mercurial vocalist shared an Easter-themed meme depicting Jesus Christ seated next to a pile of crumbled cans of Puscifer Queen B Sparkling, wearing socks and sandals with a headphones in his ears. A number of thought bubbles next to Jesus' head reference Keenan's birthday and an arrow points to the iPhone-like device in his hand.

"#NotNewTool #LetItGoForADay," read a pair of hashtags beside the arrow.

Keenan appears to derive no shortage of enjoyment from toying with fans pestering him about the forthcoming Tool album. And this is not the first time Keenan has communicated with Tool fans via memes.

While the band has officially remained almost entirely quiet on the subject of its impending new music, Keenan and guitarist Adam Jones have each shared encouraging news about progress on the new record.

Keenan himself last told fans to expect the album to be released by mid-summer.

Tool announced a handful of tour dates from May - June, so official word on a release date should be coming soon.
