It is pretty interesting to look at the parallels of Guns and Roses video "Don't Cry" and Avenged Sevenfolds "Seize the Day", both of which are great songs, power ballads in my opinion.
I am a fan of both bands, Guns and Roses are a main inspiration for Avenged Sevenfold. In fact, in concert Matt the lead singer of A7X often wears Guns and Roses t-shirts.
My point anyway...In both of these videos, one can see how reckless behavior and excess lead to the destruction in the subjects life...guilt, insanity, despair, death...and in both videos the guitarists do massive solos....Slash on a mountaintop...and Synyster Gates on a casket...Amazing videos, both. Take a look for yourself...and the the similar context and how G&R inspired the sound of Avenged Sevenfold.
"Don't Cry" from the Use Your Illusion 1 album, reached # 10 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1991. A fun fact, Shannon Hoon the lead singer of Blind Melon(whom has now passed) did co-vocals on this song.
"Seize the Day" is from the 2005 Avenged Sevenfold album City of Evil.
