A BrazoriaCounty man appeared in a Beaumont federal courtroom yesterday and was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison. 36-year old Alejandro Alex Gonzales, of Alvin, had earlier pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine, over 1000 kilograms of marijuana, and over 500 grams of meth. Gonzales acquired the drugs from drug cartel in Mexico and along with other members of a drug ring, distributed the drugs in Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey. He was sentenced to 270 months in federal prison.
